Since 2010, I've worked, played and lived in Durango, Colorado. After graduating from the University of South Florida, I was hired by a Fortune 500 company and relocated to the southwest to manage the territory, and it was head over heels love at first sight. Since then, I've embraced the lifestyle that Durango has to offer, holding positions ranging from a carpenter and jeep guide, to founding and operating a successful tours and transportation company. Leveraging an extensive and successful background of marketing, sales, and good old fashioned customer service, I'm eager to advocate for your best interests on your next real estate transaction.
The knowledge I've gained from running a business and cumulative work experience, along with my appreciation for effective communication has honed my skills of negotiating and managing relationships on the front end, and administrative organization on the back end. I value good communication: I'll pick up the phone and I'll write you back.
Outside of the office, you can find me in the mountains or desert with my wife, Heather, and dog, Kona. Adventuring outdoors is my jam, and I enjoy rafting down a river, mountain biking the local world class trails, heading off on a bumpy dirt road in my Jeep, volunteering with Adaptive Sports Association, or just relaxing in my backyard with good friends, a hot grill and a cold beer.
Why use me to sell your home?
I use the best architectural photographer in Southwest Colorado at no cost to you. First impressions are critical, so why do your home a disservice with subpar photography?
Having used design software for two decades, the materials I create to sell your home are unique and meticulously designed by me, not by an assistant filling in blanks on a generic template. For the 15 years I've been in marketing and sales, I've learned to understand and appreciate the value of aesthetic pleasing design and effective copy writing. This aforementioned attention to detail is just one part of the overall approach I put into selling your home.

Mace was extremely helpful in our home buying process. Not only was he very knowledgeable about the area and the purchasing process, but was also very patient with us in our 6+ month search for a house and had answers to all of our questions. He fully understood what was important to us in a home and helped us find the perfect housing solution for our wants, needs, budget and lifestyle. Closing took longer than expected due to some repairs that needed to be handled and Mace was by our side to help us negotiate purchase price, relay our expectations to the sellers and help consult with contractors. Overall Mace made the whole process run smoothly and was always prompt to respond to questions.
John Mace negotiated a challenging real estate situation with grace and expertise, ultimately getting me a great deal on a one of a kind place that not only met, but exceeded my requirements and desires. He was able to do so by taking a keen and genuine interest in me as a person. I believe he takes this approach with all of his clients, and this makes him feel like not only an agent, but a friend. He is very responsive, via phone/text/email and in person, and has an intimate knowledge of the Durango and Four Corners area. All of my questions were answered promptly and explained in a way that made sense. His wife makes delicious cookies to boot!
As a first time home buyer, John was extremely accommodating throughout the entire home buying process, giving me comprehensive and professional insight of what to expect from start to finish. He was responsive and prompt with any questions or concerns that arose, and always acted in my best interest, making the entire process easy and straightforward. Thanks Mace!
John was extremely helpful and professional every step of my home sale and the purchase of our new home, contingent on that sale. It was a rather complicated process, and John coordinated contracts, transactions, and communications with other realtors and lenders seamlessly. He was very responsive and communicative, answering all my questions patiently and providing needed guidance and advice, even proactively, in my interest. I found him to be very honest and unpretentious - if he wasn't sure of something, we would research and get back to me. John was integral to the quick and painless sale of my home. I'm so pleased that I decided to use a realtor and that I met John at just the time I needed one.
John was fantastic to work with on the sale of my condo. He was very responsive to my needs and seller goals and both made great suggestions to aid the sale but also explained the market well in the process.
John's attitude toward client relationships is second to none. For a year he worked with us on finding the perfect fit for our budget and needs as made the move Durango. He continuously explored new options to make sure we truly had the knowledge of what was available to us. I would absolutely recommend Mace if you're looking to buy or sell.
John is a hard working, knowledgeable, and most importantly a very nice guy! We lived far away from Durango, and we were able to come and see properties only once. He did a great job: selecting properties of interest, pointing all pros/cons, arranging visit and answering promptly our questions - all online/phone. In just one day, we saw all properties, and picked up place we liked. He went above and beyond to lead us through price negotiations, and all hiccups of the closing process. Thank you John!
